Based in Dublin, AMBACHT was established in 2020 by Adela Gómez and Bram D’hoedt.

Ambacht /’ambaxt/, from the Celtic word meaning handcraft / artisanry or guild, is a concept that is kept present in our practice, not only applied to the materialization of the project as a building but, equally important, during the design process, centring our work around the act of making as a way of thinking, exploring and representing.

As an architecture and design studio, we aim to develop each project from a clear and recognizable concept extracted from analysing context, function, client brief, social realities etc. We materialize our ideas with constructive simplicity and honesty, carefully giving every scale of the project the attention it deserves. Our studio is interested in re-usability, reconversion and recycling, as existing elements can enhance the project while original traces of the place are kept. Throughout the design process, several physical models and sketches aid us to progress the design and communicate the project from thought to reality.

At Ambacht, we are committed to design unique and sensitive projects, tailored to each specific condition through a process of research and exploration, much like the way each piece of craftmanship is unique, but at the same time, is built from the experience of previous work.
